Currently we are spoiled for choice when it comes to Twitter integration – particularly the excellent plugins arc_twitter and mem_twitter – but unfortunately there is no such plugin for Facebook.
But there is a way around this problem – a Facebook application called RSS Graffiti.
Install the app
First thing is to install the app in your Facebook account. There are several steps to this, each one needs to be completed:
- Authenticate
- Add RSS Graffiti to your Profile
- Allow Constant Authorization
- Allow Publishing
- Add your feeds
The first steps are quite simple, just grant the permission for each stage.
Add your feed
The final step involves adding your feed – RSS Graffiti will use your chosen RSS feed to add your articles into your Facebook account. In my case I used Feedburner for the Pro Tennis Jobs site so I entered http://feeds.feedburner.com/ProTennisJobs
as the feed.
A TXP plugin would be nice, but this does the job. Thanks to Gil Goldshlager (aka The Blue Dragon) for suggesting this method.
Or you could always use this one: http://apps.facebook.com/blognetworks – with multiple blogs, etc. Organizes community around your blog as well.
Articles I post on my blog were at one time being sent to Facebook as Notes. I believe I associated my RSS feed with Facebook in order to do this. I’ve since disabled it but if anyones interested in doing it that way it’s possible.
What would be interesting though is how to use Facebook Connect for txp comments – retaining the preview function. Could someone write a tut for that? Would be highly appreciated :)
